A lot of people are addicted to Facebook– including you apparently, and for those who want to overcome the addiction, there are three steps you can follow.

First, you should try to use your phone less, by that, do not check the phone’s notification multiple times especially Facebook notification. You should only use your phone when you have urgent business to finish, like notifying your partner about the progress report’s due date. When you have a lot of notifications coming into your phone, you can put your phone elsewhere and set to “do not disturb”  mode.

Second, if the first step did not work flawlessly, you might want to consider to uninstall your Facebook application. By uninstalling the application you will have more attention to your surroundings and focus only on what is important. If you do not want to uninstall Facebook for some reasons, you can try to install a “blocking applications” application. The application will warn you if you try to open Facebook (and other applications that distract you too) again for a certain amount of time.

Third, try having more conversation in real life. After you have done the steps discussed above, then engaging in real life conversation is a must because the real life is where all your real friends are at. In this step, you will learn to cherish those around you and want to spend a lot of time with them.

Hence, by doing these steps for several days you will overcome your addiction without even realising and you will have better quality in life. These steps can also be used in any type of social media that distract you.
